Cashflow 101 Game

Have you ever played the Cashflow 101 Game? It’s fantastic–really incredible! I love the way the game teaches you about practical accounting that will make a difference in your life. Also, the time it takes to get out of the rat race (compared with the entire amount of time you play the game) is too often true to life!

Cashflow 101 Game: Building Concepts

While playing this game, practical accounting comes into play because you are asked to identify monetary amounts as income, assets, expenses, or liabilities. In this way, you are forced to differentiate between “good debt” and “bad debt”. Good debt generally puts money in your pocket every month, while bad debt instead takes from your income every month. Making this delineation can be very important for changing the way that you think about debt and even purchases in general.

Cashflow 101 Game: Finding Opportunities

At first when playing the game, you are unsure of what to do or what to decide when opportunities come along. But, after you get the hang of the game, you realize that there never seem to be enough opportunities. In short order, you recognize all too quickly that your money correctly invested in the right opportunities is the only hope of ever getting out of the rat race and on to the fast track in life!

Cashflow 101 Game: True to Life

After playing the game a few times, however, you become all too aware of how true to life this game is! When that happens, you find yourself wondering how you can possibly find opportunity cards in real life. Then, you begin to research and understand that actually opportunities abound! (See The Elevation Group by Mike Dillard). But, this never happens overnight, and sometimes it takes much longer to determine whether or not an “investment” is truly going to gain any return! Give yourself some time to learn—both in the game and in real life.
